The Duluth Montessori School is pleased to offer an opportunity for members of our community to take part in the recently enacted Georgia Education Expense Credit Program. Through the Apogee Scholarship Fund you can redirect your Georgia tax liability to support our school and help us to provide scholarships to deserving children.
The Georgia Private School Tax Credit law allows eligible private citizens and corporations to receive tax credits for donations to Georgia Student Scholarship Organizations (SSOs). SSOs will provide student scholarships to parents that will help cover the cost of a private school education for their children in the state of Georgia. Donors will receive a dollar-for-dollar Georgia tax credit for the amount of their contribution within the same tax year as the donation.
Individual filers can contribute up to $1,000, joint filers up to $2,500, and c-corps up to 75% of GA tax liability. A donor who pays taxes throughout the year can still participate. The tax credit is based on the donor’s total GA tax liability (6% of your State AGI) and not on what they may or may not still owe the State at the end of the year. For example, if one makes a $2,500 contribution and his total tax liability was $5,000, it will now be $2,500. If the donor already paid the state over the year, a refund will be received.
We are excited to participate in the Georgia Education Expense Credit Program and encourage parents and friends of The Duluth Montessori School to take advantage of this opportunity to support our school.
